# Removeddit alternative: what to use now that Removeddit and Unddit are gone

Removeddit and Unddit were browser viewers that restored removed comments in a Reddit thread by swapping the domain in the URL. Both were thin frontends over Pushshift data. Reddit restricted third-party data access in 2023, Pushshift lost its ingestion, and both tools went dark permanently. Camas (camas.unddit.com) died with them.

## What replaces them in 2026

## The distinction that decides the tool
"[removed]" means a moderator acted; traces persist in Reddit's API, so a live tool can reconstruct it. "[deleted]" means the author acted; Reddit overwrites the body everywhere including its own API, so only a copy captured before deletion can return it. Author deletions are the investigatively interesting ones.

## What nothing can recover
Content from private or quarantined subreddits that was never public, posts deleted within seconds of publication, and direct messages. No legitimate tool needs your Reddit login.
