# Reveddit alternative: what Reveddit shows, and what it cannot

Reveddit still works in 2026. It survived Reddit's 2023 API lockdown because it never depended on Pushshift: it reads Reddit's live API and surfaces moderator removals. It is free, maintained, and does not ask for your Reddit credentials.

## Its structural ceiling
Reveddit cannot recover content the author deleted. Reddit overwrites author-deleted text with "[deleted]" everywhere, including in the API Reveddit reads, so nothing remains for a live tool to find. Reveddit is also anchored to what Reddit currently serves, so it is not a historical archive.

## "Reveddit not working" / "unable to connect to Reddit"
Usually Reddit-side rate limiting rather than a Reveddit fault; retrying later often works. An empty profile can mean a suspended or renamed account, where only an archive holds the history. Comments still showing "[deleted]" is the structural limit, not an outage.

## What to use for each case
- Moderator removals on live threads: Reveddit.
