Tool alternatives

Picuki alternatives: the anonymous Instagram viewers that still work, and the ones that do not.

Last verified 9 September 2026. Picuki no longer serves Instagram, half of the sites recommended as replacements are dead, and none of them ever showed a private account. Here is what each one returned on the day, and what to use for each job.

Short answer

Picuki is dead for Instagram. Dumpor (dumpor.io) is the working replacement for browsing a public profile without logging in, with Mollygram as a backup; Imginn works intermittently; Gramhir and StoriesDown are gone. No viewer shows private accounts or deleted posts. For who is behind a handle, THINKPOL covers the Reddit side of the trail: search Instagram links across 30 billion Reddit posts, deleted ones included.
01

Can you still use Picuki in 2026?

Not for Instagram. Picuki was the best known of the anonymous viewers: paste a public username, browse the grid, open stories, all without logging in. During 2025 it stopped returning Instagram content and repositioned around TikTok, and on 9 September 2026 the domain answered our request with a Cloudflare challenge page rather than a profile. The Reddit thread that ranks for "Picuki alternatives" opens with the line that it "hasn't been working the past few days", and that thread is now more than a year old.

The scale of the hole it left is visible in search demand: around 246,000 searches a month still carry the Picuki name, and 27,100 of them add "instagram". On Reddit the curve runs the other way. Posts and comments mentioning Picuki in THINKPOL's archive fell from 1,192 in 2020 to 47 in 2025, a 96 percent drop, which is what happens when a tool stops working and its users stop recommending it to each other.

How do anonymous Instagram viewers work, and why do they break?

Every viewer of this kind is a proxy. It requests a public profile from Instagram, either logged-out or through a pool of accounts it controls, strips the login prompts, and re-serves the result with its own ads around it. It cannot show anything Instagram does not serve to that session, which is why none of them ever showed private accounts, and why the ones that promised to were lying.

They break because Instagram treats them as scrapers. Instagram's robots.txt disallows all automated access, its logged-out surface shrinks every year, and its endpoints rotate. Each rotation takes the viewers offline until they adapt, which is the outage pattern Imginn users have reported through 2026, and each tightening of the login wall removes something the viewers used to show. Picuki did not fail on a single day; it fell behind and then gave up. Reddit's third-party viewers went through the identical cycle in 2023, which we documented on the Reveddit alternative page: a tool that depends on the platform's tolerance can be switched off without notice.

Imginn, Dumpor, Mollygram, Gramhir, StoriesDown and Peekviewer, checked

We requested each site on 9 September 2026 with a normal desktop browser identity and recorded what came back. A loading page is not the same as a working viewer, so the verdicts also reflect what each site can show once it loads.

Imginn. Verdict: partial. Still the most searched alternative (201,000 searches a month). Our request hit a Cloudflare "Just a moment" challenge, and users report it going dark for days when Instagram rotates endpoints. When it is up it shows public profiles, posts and stories, and offers downloads.

Dumpor. Verdict: working. The old dumpor.com domain now redirects to dumpor.io, which loaded normally and advertises seven free tools: profile, story, reel and follower viewers. Closest in feel to the old Picuki grid. Ad-heavy, public content only.

Mollygram. Verdict: working. Loaded normally as an anonymous story and profile viewer. Same limits as Dumpor.

Gramhir. Verdict: dead. The domain still resolves in DNS but no web server answers. It has been cited as a Picuki alternative in listicles for years; it is not one.

StoriesDown. Verdict: dead. No DNS record at all. Any guide still recommending it was not checked before publication.

Peekviewer. Verdict: loads, treat with care. A viewer that also markets a "deleted Instagram posts viewer". By its own description that feature only shows content the service cached while it was already monitoring an account, for up to 90 days, and it claims to work on private pages, which no proxy can do honestly. Use it for public profiles if at all, and do not believe the private-account claim.

Is there a way to see a private Instagram account for free?

No, and the sites that say otherwise are the reason this question needs answering. A private account serves its handle, name, counts and profile picture to non-followers and nothing else, to every session, including the sessions the viewers control. A "private profile viewer" therefore has three possible designs: it shows you the same public metadata and calls it access, it asks you to log in and harvests the credentials, or it asks you to complete surveys and app installs for a result that never arrives. All three exist. None shows a private post.

The honest route to a private account's content is the account owner: a follow request, a mutual, or a lawful request through the platform. For investigators, that is where the work moves off Instagram entirely, to the places the same person posts publicly under the same handle.

What to use instead of Picuki, by case

To look at one public profile: the direct instagram.com URL in a browser, then Dumpor or Mollygram if you need stories or want to avoid the login prompt. Expect ads, expect outages, give them nothing.

To collect a public account's posts: Instaloader, the maintained open-source downloader, with a throwaway session. The comparison with Osintgram and the other tools is on the Instagram OSINT page.

To preserve what you find: capture it yourself, with a timestamped screenshot or a Wayback Machine save of the profile URL, because the next outage or deletion takes the viewer's copy with it. Viewers are lookup boxes, not archives.

To find out who is behind a handle: leave Instagram. The same username on Reddit, with its full posting history including deleted content, is searchable for free in THINKPOL's Reddit user lookup, and the string instagram.com/ run through the Reddit archive search returns every thread where a handle was posted, promoted or reported.

What THINKPOL adds today

THINKPOL is not an Instagram viewer and does not archive Instagram. It holds 30 billion Reddit posts and comments since 2005, captured at publication and kept after deletion, searchable in under 300 milliseconds from EU infrastructure. Reddit mentioned Instagram 7.7 million times in 2025, and a large share of those mentions carry a handle: that is the record the viewers never had, and it does not go away when a viewer does. The free browser tools need no account; the wider tool set is compared in our best Reddit OSINT tools guide.

Need the full archive via API?

The free tools query a slice of the archive. The API gives you all 30 billion posts and comments back to 2005, deleted content included, in under 300ms.

FAQ

Picuki and the viewers, answered.

Not for Instagram. Picuki stopped returning Instagram profiles during 2025 and now serves TikTok content; on 9 September 2026 the site answered with a Cloudflare challenge page. Dumpor and Mollygram loaded on the same day and cover the public-profile case Picuki used to.

Dumpor (now at dumpor.io) is the closest working replacement for the old Picuki grid, with Mollygram as a second option. Imginn is more popular but sat behind a Cloudflare challenge on our check and is reported down for days at a time. All of them show public content only.

No. Instagram serves only the handle, name, counts and profile picture of a private account to non-followers, and viewer sites are proxies of that same surface. Sites promising private access either show the public metadata, harvest your login, or run survey scams.

Imginn shows public Instagram data without asking for a login, which makes it a privacy trade rather than a hack: you give it your browsing and see its ads. Never enter Instagram credentials on any viewer site, and expect outages when Instagram rotates its endpoints.

Anonymous to the Instagram account you view, yes: the request comes from Imginn's servers, not from you, so the profile owner sees nothing. Anonymous to Imginn and its advertisers, no.

Picuki was an anonymous Instagram viewer and editor launched around 2019 that let anyone browse public profiles, posts and stories without an account. It became the generic name for the category, which is why roughly 246,000 searches a month still use it despite the tool no longer serving Instagram.

No. A post moves to the owner's Recently Deleted folder for 30 days and is then permanently deleted; only the owner can restore it. Sites marketing a deleted posts viewer show content they cached while already monitoring the account, and only for a limited period.
