Removeddit alternative: what to use now that Removeddit and Unddit are gone.

Removeddit worked by taking any Reddit thread URL, swapping the domain, and rendering the same discussion with the removed comments restored in place. It could do that because it read from Pushshift, an independent archive that had been ingesting Reddit's public firehose since 2015 and therefore held copies of comments captured before anyone deleted them.

In 2023 Reddit restricted third-party access to its data and Pushshift lost its privileged ingestion. Removeddit had no archive of its own, so it went dark within weeks. The domain no longer serves the tool. Anything you find today claiming to be Removeddit is either a parked domain, a mirror serving pre-2023 data, or an unrelated site trading on the name.

This is the important part for anyone evaluating a replacement: Removeddit was a viewer, not an archive. Viewers die when their data source dies. What matters in a replacement is who owns the underlying collection.

Unddit was the direct successor to Removeddit, built by the same community after the original stopped being maintained, with the same URL-swap trick and the same dependency on Pushshift. When Pushshift's access was cut, Unddit inherited the problem rather than solving it. Camas, the search frontend hosted at camas.unddit.com, went with it.

So if you searched for an Unddit alternative and landed here, the answer is the same as for Removeddit: you are not looking for another viewer over a dead archive, you are looking for a live archive. The three options below are the ones that still hold data in 2026.

Reveddit is the closest thing to a drop-in replacement for the original use case, with one hard limit. It reads Reddit's live API and compares what a moderator can see with what the public sees, which reveals moderator removals in near real time. Because it works from the live API rather than an archive, it cannot show you a comment the author themselves deleted, and it cannot go back in time. Removals: yes. Deletions: no.

PullPush is the community-run Pushshift successor. It exposes a familiar API and a search frontend, and it is free. Its coverage has gaps after 2023 and its rate limits are real, so treat results as indicative rather than exhaustive, and validate samples against live Reddit before drawing conclusions. THINKPOL is an independent archive rather than a viewer: 30 billion Reddit posts and comments collected continuously since 2005, including content later deleted by its author or removed by a moderator, queryable in under 300 milliseconds. Because the collection is ours and did not depend on Pushshift, nothing broke in 2023. The deleted post tool is free and needs no account.

These two words get used interchangeably and they should not be. A removed comment was taken down by a moderator or by Reddit itself. The author still sees their own text; the public sees "[removed]". Because Reddit's API still carries traces of that state, a live tool such as Reveddit can reconstruct it without any archive at all.

A deleted comment was taken down by its author. Reddit overwrites the body with "[deleted]" everywhere, including in its own API. No live tool can recover it, ever, because the text no longer exists anywhere in Reddit's systems. The only way to read it is for someone to have captured a copy while it was public.

Author deletions are also the ones that matter most in investigation work: people delete their own posts when they change their mind, when they realise they said too much, or when an account is about to be scrutinised. That is precisely the content an archive holds and a viewer cannot.

Start from what you have. If you hold the thread URL and the removal is recent, open it in Reveddit first: it is free, instant, and it answers the moderator-removal case without any signup.

If Reveddit shows "[deleted]" rather than restored text, the author removed it and you need an archive. Take the username and run it through the deleted post search, which returns that account's archived posts and comments including the ones missing from Reddit. If you only have a keyword or a phrase rather than an account, use archive search across the full corpus instead.

Finally, preserve what you find. Screenshot with a visible timestamp, or push the live URL into the Wayback Machine while it still resolves. An archive gives you the content; your own capture gives you the evidence trail. No tool recovers content from a private or quarantined subreddit that was never publicly visible, because nothing captured it. No tool recovers a post deleted within seconds of publication, before any collector saw it. And no tool gives you deleted content from direct messages, which were never public in the first place.

Be sceptical of any service that claims otherwise, particularly one that asks you to log in with your Reddit credentials. There is no legitimate reason for a deleted-content tool to need your account.
